1M1B Unveils ‘1.5 Matters’ To Build India’s Climate Dividend & Drive Net Zero Goals

The UN accredited organisation aims to mobilise 10 million people and train 1 million climate professionals through its Green Skills Academy

1M1B Green Skills Academy, an initiative of 1M1B (One Million for One Billion), a United Nations accredited organisation, has announced ‘1.5 Matters’ and ‘Youth Climate Diplomacy for 1.5°C’ to strengthen India’s climate leadership and support national Net Zero goals.

The initiative, announced at the United Nations House in New Delhi, seeks to mobilise 10 million people and train 1 million climate professionals by 2030. Curated by Manav Subodh, Founder of 1M1B, it positions India’s youth as key actors in advancing the Paris Agreement target of limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

Youth Climate Diplomacy for 1.5°C will enable young Indians to represent the country at national and international forums, including the United Nations, highlighting India’s growing climate diplomacy and soft power.

“The 1.5 Matters movement will create pathways for youth to participate directly in shaping global climate policy and solutions,” said Manav Subodh, Founder, 1M1B.

The event was attended by Shombi Sharp, United Nations Resident Coordinator in India, and senior government officials from Gujarat, Karnataka, and Meghalaya, alongside educators, policymakers, and youth representatives.

The initiative builds on pilot programmes launched in Hyderabad in 2024 and will culminate at the 1M1B Summit at the United Nations in Geneva on 7 November 2025.
