CapitaLand India Trust Inaugurates 21MW Solar Plant In Tamil Nadu

CLINT powers ahead inauguration of 21MW Solar facility marks milestone in CapitaLand’s Green energy drive

In Tamil Nadu, India, CapitaLand India Trust (CLINT) has successfully started up its first 21 megawatt (MW) captive solar facility. This is in line with CapitaLand Investment’s (CLI) overarching objective of reaching Net Zero carbon emissions for scope 1 and 2 by 2050 and represents a major advancement in CLINT’s dedication to the adoption of renewable energy. It is projected that the recently operational facility will produce more than 30 million kWh of electricity per year, enough to power two million square feet of office space. The green energy generated will be mostly used for CLINT’s Tamil Nadu properties’ common areas. This will result in a noteworthy 70 per cent increase in the trust’s use of green energy and an anticipated decrease in carbon emissions of more than 17,000 tonnes. In addition, the calculated action puts CLINT in a position to lessen its reliance on outside power sources. With an 8 MW extension potential, the solar facility can potentially reach a total capacity of 29 MW. The CEO of CLINT, Sanjeev Dasgupta, highlights the role that this solar power plant will play in helping the trust achieve its decarbonisation plan. He also pledges to support sustainability efforts that span the whole life cycle of real estate. Chief Sustainability and Sustainable Investments Officer Vinamra Srivastava of CLI emphasises CLINT’s dedication to global technology pilots and cross-market decarbonisation solutions adaptation for a sustainable built environment. CLINT units are up 1 cent at USD 1.10 as of the most recent update, representing a 0.92 per cent increase.
