The convention organised by the Indian local network of the Global Compact, New York, under the theme ‘Advancing Sustainable India: Driving Change with Forward Faster 2030,’ aims to accelerate positive transformations towards sustainability, aligning with the UN Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs). Notable figures including Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, along with Arun Kumar Singh, Chairman & CEO of ONGC and President of UN GCNI, graced the event alongside other senior dignitaries.

During the session, Hardeep Singh Puri emphasized the significant role of industry leaders in driving the 2030 SDG agenda through impactful CSR initiatives. He lauded ONGC’s efforts in this regard, highlighting the company’s substantial reduction in emissions and its commitment to hiring green skills.

ONGC, a key founding member of UN GCNI and India’s largest oil & gas PSU, showcased its ongoing commitment to sustainability by actively participating and supporting the convention. Shri Puri underscored the importance of collaboration, cooperation, and collective action in achieving SDGs, emphasising initiatives like FasterForward 2030 as valuable tools for progress.

Overall, the convention served as a platform for industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss and drive sustainable development efforts in India, aligning with global agreements and initiatives such as the Lima Climate Change Conference 2050, the Paris Agreement, and the Pancharmit Scheme, while harnessing innovation, collaboration, and leadership for a better future.
