Tata Consumer Products Announces Milestones & Metrics For FY 2025-26

Tata Consumer Products (TCPL) has announced clear sustainability goals aligned with their ESG strategy, including substantial emissions reduction, renewable energy adoption, and circular economy initiatives, while aiming to impact 1.75 million lives and enhance gender diversity by 2025-26

 

Tata Consumer Products (TCPL), a part of the Tata Group for the food and beverage sector, has unveiled a set of specific and measurable sustainability targets set to guide its progress until the fiscal year 2025-26. These commitments align with TCPL’s established ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Strategy, which centers around four core pillars: #ForBetter Sourcing, #ForBetter Planet, #ForBetter Communities, and #ForBetter Nutrition. TCPL boasts a diverse range of product categories and well-known brands, including Tata Tea, Tata Salt, Tetley, Eight O’Clock Coffee, Tata Sampann, Himalayan, Tata Soulfull, Tata Copper +, and Tata Gluco +.

In a bid to shape Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) organisation and create sustainable value for all stakeholders, TCPL has consistently taken steps to enhance its ESG performance. Their commitment to transparency and progress reporting is exemplified by their ESG Strategy, ‘For Better Living,’ which mirrors the Tata Group’s commitments under ‘Project Aalingana’ and aligns with the regulatory frameworks in every market where they operate.

For the fiscal year 2022-23, TCPL has reported few achievements like a substantial 18 per cent reduction in Scope 1+2 emissions has been achieved between 2020 and 2022, even with an increase in the scale and complexity of their operations.
Currently, 19 per cent of the company’s energy needs are met from renewable sources. TCPL has contributed to recharging 314 million litres of water through initiatives like “Project Jalodari” in Himachal Pradesh and Assam.

All TCPL beverage factories globally have achieved the commendable status of being Zero waste to landfill. TCPL has demonstrated 100 per cent compliance with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) commitments for packaging in India.Projects under implementation show a potential annual reduction of 900 metric tonnes in packaging materials. Their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, focusing on seven distinct themes, have positively impacted more than 1.2 million beneficiaries.

As part of their long-term roadmap leading to 2030 and 2040, TCPL is committed to a set of goals to be achieved by the fiscal year 2025-26, which include climate adaptation, that is striving for carbon neutrality in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions across all geographies. Scaling up to attain 35 per cent of their power requirement from renewable sources.

Circular Economy; ensuring zero waste to landfill across all operations global. Aiming for 70 per cent of packaging material to be recyclable, compostable, or reusable across all geographies.

People and Community; aspiring to positively impact 1.75 million lives through community initiatives. Aiming for 100 per cent of operations to be ISO 45000 certified. Aspiring to increase women’s participation in their global workforce to over 35 per cent.

He stressed that these commitments reinforce their long-term sustainability roadmap, strengthening their position in the industry and enhancing value for all stakeholders.
