50 More Solar Parks To Be Set Up In 12 States

Additionally, 10,401 MW of solar projects have been commissioned in 19 solar parks as of the stated date

As of 30 November , a total of 50 solar parks with a collective capacity of 37,490 MW have received approval across 12 states in India, according to information shared in Parliament.

Minister of New and Renewable Energy R K Singh provided details on the government’s ongoing initiative, the “Development of Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects,” which aims to achieve a total capacity of 40 GW.

Under this initiative, 50 solar parks have been sanctioned, covering 37,490 MW in capacity across 12 states. Additionally, 10,401 MW of solar projects have been commissioned in 19 solar parks as of the stated date.

However, Singh noted that two solar parks—Kadaladi Solar Park and Ramanathapuram Solar Park, each with a capacity of 500 MW—originally sanctioned in Tamil Nadu were subsequently cancelled due to slow progress and land constraints.

The distribution of sanctioned solar park projects across states is as follows: Gujarat leads with 12,150 MW, followed by Rajasthan with 8,276 MW, Andhra Pradesh with 4,200 MW, Madhya Pradesh with 4,180 MW, Uttar Pradesh with 3,730 MW, and Karnataka with 2,500 MW. Additionally, Jharkhand has 1,089 MW, Maharashtra has 750 MW, Kerala has 155 MW, Chhattisgarh has 100 MW, and Mizoram has 20 MW in sanctioned solar park projects.

These initiatives represent a concerted effort by the government to expand solar energy infrastructure and contribute to the nation’s renewable energy goals.
