PM Modi Inaugurates Avaada’s 280 MW Solar Project, Lays Foundation For 100 MW Vadodara Facility

The projects aim to boost renewable energy capacity, cut carbon emissions, and support irrigation in Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Avaada Group’s 280 MW solar power project in Surendra nagar, Gujarat, on Saturday, marking a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy expansion. During the same event, he laid the foundation for a 100 MW solar facility in Vadodara district.

The Surendra nagar project, developed under the Gujarat State Solar Policy, spans 1,170 acres across the villages of Tavi and Varsani, with an investment of Rs 1,500 crore. It features high-efficiency bifacial solar modules produced by Avaada Electro, in line with the ‘Make in India’ initiative and will supply electricity to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), strengthening the state’s renewable energy capacity.

The Vadodara project will cover 350 acres and is expected to be commissioned by April 2026, with an estimated investment of Rs 400 crore. It is projected to reduce around 212,806 tonne of CO₂ emissions annually while conserving approximately 40 lakh litres of water per year through robotic module cleaning technology.

Vineet Mittal, Chairman of Avaada Group, said the inauguration reinforced the company’s commitment to providing clean, affordable, and sustainable energy solutions across India. The projects are also expected to support agricultural productivity in the region by supplying reliable daytime power for irrigation, further contributing to India’s clean energy transition.
