AI-blockchain Platform To Transform Global Carbon Reporting

The Paris Agreement Implementation Platform combines artificial intelligence and blockchain to enhance transparency and efficiency in national emissions monitoring

The Green Economy Partnership (GEP) and technology firm TRST01 have unveiled the Paris Agreement Implementation Platform (PAIP), an AI-powered, blockchain-based solution aimed at strengthening global climate governance. The platform seeks to address a long-standing gap in the 2015 Paris Agreement, the absence of a uniform, technology-driven mechanism for recording tamper-proof national carbon footprints. This deficiency has historically hindered environmental conservation and fair trading in carbon credits.

PAIP integrates National Emission Registers and Carbon Registries, going beyond mere compliance with existing Paris Agreement reporting frameworks. It is designed to automate critical reporting processes and set new standards for transparency and efficiency in international climate action.

The platform marks a shift from outdated manual reporting to a fully digital ecosystem. Generative AI will produce complex mandatory reports such as Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs) and Long-Term Strategies (LTS), improve accuracy while reducing governmental workloads. Predictive AI will support policymakers by modelling national decarbonisation pathways and analysing emitter trajectories, Grid Emission Factors, Residual Mix, and Global Warming Potential, thereby informing more strategic climate policies.

Blockchain underpins the platform’s integrity, offering an immutable, fully auditable record of national emissions and carbon transactions. This addresses persistent concerns of fraud and double counting that have hampered carbon markets.
