Lupin Reports High ESG Score In Latest Assessment
Lupin reports a marked rise in its S&P Global environmental, social and governance score, which now stands at 91, well above the pharmaceutical industry average
Lupin has received an S&P Global environmental, social and governance score of 91 for 2025, placing it among a small group of companies worldwide that have crossed the 90-point mark. The score is far higher than the pharmaceutical industry’s average score of 28 and shows a steady rise from 17 in 2021.
Ramesh Swaminathan, Executive Director, Global Chief Financial Officer and Head of IT and API Plus SBU at Lupin, said the score reflected the company’s continued focus on sustainable practices. He said the 15-point rise over the past year placed the company in a stronger position in areas that matter to patients, communities and investors.
The company said it has increased its use of renewable power, reduced carbon emissions and moved towards water-positive operations. It has also expanded workplace inclusion efforts, community health programmes and measures that support employee well-being. The company added that it has strengthened transparency and board oversight of environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities.
