NSE Backs Mumbai Climate Week Innovation Challenge To Fast-track Scalable Green

Citizens-led February 2026 conclave aims to turn India into a Global South hub for climate innovation and finance

Mumbai Climate Week has named the National Stock Exchange of India as Innovation Challenge Partner for a new multi-stage Climate Innovation Challenge intended to push India’s next wave of climate solutions from concept to deployment.

The inaugural Mumbai Climate Week, to be held from 17 to 19 February 2026 at the Jio World Convention Centre, is an initiative of Project Mumbai in partnership with the Government of Maharashtra and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. The Prime Minister has been invited to inaugurate the event, which is positioned as India’s first large-scale, citizens-led climate action and solutions platform.

The NSE-led Climate Innovation Challenge will focus on mitigation, adaptation and resilience, inviting entries from start-ups, students, researchers, NGOs, civil society organisations and climate entrepreneurs from India and other Global South countries. Shortlisted participants will refine and test ideas through capacity-building sessions, masterclasses, technical mentoring and structured jury rounds, culminating in a final live showcase during Mumbai Climate Week 2026.

A key feature will be an “Investor Speed-Seeding Forum” on the third day, offering one-to-one interactions with capital providers. Finalists will also present at the MCW Solutions Exhibition Arena to policymakers, funders, industry leaders, philanthropies and international climate networks, with scope for pilots, partnerships and formal agreements through Mumbai Climate Week ecosystem partners.

For NSE, the partnership aligns with its growing role in climate-linked finance, from green, social, sustainability and transition bonds to emerging products in carbon markets and green equity. For Mumbai Climate Week, the Innovation Challenge is intended to build a pipeline of India-rooted yet globally relevant solutions for climate-vulnerable cities and communities, reinforcing Mumbai’s claim to be a leading climate innovation hub for the Global South.
