Tata Power, Bengal Chamber Push Rooftop Solar Adoption Among MSMEs

The partnership targets industrial clusters in West Bengal to scale decentralised solar adoption and lower energy costs for MSMEs

Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry to promote rooftop solar adoption among micro, small and medium enterprises in West Bengal.

The partnership aims to drive awareness and facilitate wider use of rooftop solar solutions across key industrial clusters in the state, helping MSMEs reduce energy costs while transitioning to cleaner power sources. Under the arrangement, both organisations will work on structured outreach and capacity-building initiatives to address adoption barriers such as financing, technical know-how and long-term reliability.

TPREL’s rooftop solar arm, Tata Power Solaroof, has already installed more than 85 megawatt-peak of rooftop solar capacity in West Bengal through a network of over 20 channel partners. The company offers end-to-end services, including system design, installation, financing options, insurance and after-sales support, along with solar modules backed by 25-year performance warranties.

At the national level, Tata Power Solaroof operates with over 650 channel partners and has supported the installation of more than three lakh rooftop solar systems across India, aggregating over four gigawatt-peak of capacity.

The collaboration reflects a growing focus on decentralised renewable energy solutions as MSMEs look to manage rising power costs and align with sustainability goals.
