RSB Cuts Scope 1 Emissions 25% In First Sustainability Report

Group outlines quantified gains on energy, emissions, water and waste, sets 2030 renewable and water targets

RSB Group has published its first Sustainability Report, detailing measured improvements in energy efficiency, emissions reduction, water use and waste management across its manufacturing operations.

The engineering and manufacturing company reported total energy consumption of 264,850 gigajoules, a reduction of around five per cent over the past three years. Energy intensity declined to 1.50 gigajoules per tonne, representing an improvement of nearly 16 per cent compared with FY22-23.

Combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions stood at 48,137 tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent. Scope 1 emissions fell by approximately 25 per cent, while overall emissions intensity improved to 0.27 tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent per tonne, a reduction of about 17 per cent over the same period.

The report outlines a five-year decarbonisation roadmap centred on renewable energy adoption, energy efficiency measures and low-carbon technologies. RSB Group has also set 2030 commitments, including achieving 50 per cent renewable energy usage and 60 per cent water neutrality.

Water intensity improved to 0.61 kilolitres per tonne in FY24-25, a year-on-year improvement of around four per cent. Waste management initiatives enabled nearly 97 per cent of waste to be diverted from landfill.

Aligned with Securities and Exchange Board of India Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting norms and Global Reporting Initiative standards, the report highlights a data-led approach to integrating sustainability into manufacturing operations.
