South Eastern Coalfields Achieves 100 million tonne Coal Dispatch
Coal India subsidiary South Eastern Coalfields (SECL)has achieved 100 million tonne (MT) coal dispatch. Out of the total coal dispatch, more than 80 per cent went to the power sector as the company dispatched around 81 million tonnes of coal to power plants across the country
Coal India subsidiary South Eastern Coalfields (SECL)has achieved 100 million tonne (MT) coal dispatch for FY 2023-24. This is the fastest 100 MT coal dispatch achieved by Chhattisgarh based company since its inception.
Since SECL shipped about 85 million tonnes of coal in the same time frame the previous year, the company has grown by 17.65 per cent this fiscal year.
The corporation shipped almost 81 million tonnes of coal to power plants all over the nation, accounting for over 80 per cent of the total coal dispatch. Considering that power demand is expected to increase over the next festival season, this is a noteworthy accomplishment.
The Korba district’s SECL megaprojects Gevra, Dipka, and Kusmunda have made a substantial contribution to the 100 million tonnes of coal that have been dispatched overall. The biggest coal mine in the nation, Gevra, produced 30.3 MT of coal, while Kusmunda and Dipka produced 19.1 MT and 25.1 MT of coal, respectively. All three of the megaprojects have contributed over 74 per cent of the dispatch in total.
Apart from this, SECL’s Korea Rewa coalfield, where most of the old and underground mines are located, also made notable contribution by enhancing coal dispatch by 20 per cent as compared to last year.
The company produced 167 MT of coal (highest in its history) and accounted for around one-fourth of CIL’s total coal production in FY 22-23. This year the company has a target of 197 MT of coal production.
