Tata Power Enlists Mountaineer Baljeet Kaur as Champion for Renewable Energy, Spearheading ‘Sustainable is Attainable’ Campaign

Leading integrated power provider in India, Tata Power, has appointed experienced mountaineer Baljeet Kaur as a sustainability champion for the company’s renewable energy division. In 2023, Kaur, then 27 years old, received recognition from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation when she was awarded a Gold Medal for her achievement in mountaineering. Among her many incredible accomplishments are becoming the first Indian to scale seven peaks higher than 8000 metres and climbing Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, and Mount Manaslu without the need for extra oxygen.

Originating from the Himachal Pradesh highlands, Kaur has a strong bond with the natural world and refers to the mountains as her “first love.” She will be instrumental in advancing Tata Power’s “Sustainable is Attainable” campaign since she understands the value of leading a sustainable lifestyle. The objective of this effort is to promote the adoption of clean energy solutions among citizens in order to foster a sustainable lifestyle.

The CEO and MD of Tata Power, Praveer Sinha, expressed his happiness to have Baljeet join the team and highlighted how her fortitude, awareness of the environment, and emphasis on safety are qualities that are consistent with the company’s values. Sinha believes that Kaur’s hiring is evidence of Tata Power’s dedication to supporting female athletes and developing the nation’s future talent.

Baljeet Kaur conveyed her enthusiasm about becoming a part of the Tata Power team and her desire to support sustainable living. She is overjoyed to be a part of an organisation that promotes sustainability and helps up-and-coming talent in a variety of national disciplines. Kaur hopes to significantly impact sustainability and women’s empowerment in mountaineering with the support of Tata Power.
