Deloitte’s Climate Hub In India To Catalsye Innovations

Deloitte’s Asia Pacific Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Sustainability & Climate in India will cater to the rapidly increasing demand for ESG-related services across the region

Deloitte is accelerating its commitment to tackle sustainability and climate challenges with the introduction of the Asia Pacific Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Sustainability and Climate in India. The CoE, aligned with Deloitte’s global sustainability initiative, draws on the firm’s extensive experience in client services, data-driven research and technology capabilities.

According to Viral Thakker, Partner and Sustainability Leader at Deloitte India, the newly established CoE fosters innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration among experts. The centre consolidates Deloitte’s dedication to providing comprehensive solutions for the evolving global landscape, serving as a hub for diverse sustainability, climate and ESG skills, to catalyse innovative solutions and guide organisations towards a more sustainable future.

In a strategic move, Deloitte is creating an Energy Chair Professorship under Soumitra Satapathi to stimulate collaboration and innovation in renewable energy, conducting knowledge sessions according to a mutually agreed-upon schedule.

In a bid to strengthen ties with academia, Deloitte has partnered with IIT Roorkee to bridge the industry-academia gap. This collaboration aims to curate relevant research, develop targeted courses, and enhance skillset development. Thakker emphasised that the collaboration with IIT Roorkee will strategically foster interdisciplinary coordination, nurture talent and advance research initiatives to address climate change and social inequity challenges.

While headquartered in India, the CoE will extend support to clients and organisations across the Asia-Pacific region, including India. For Indian organisations, one solution will be BRSR Core-related data, analyses and disclosure services.
