Six Companies Awarded Incentives For Electrolyser Manufacturing
The mission is expected to lead to the development of 5 million metric tonnes per annum of green hydrogen production capacity by 2030
Reliance Electrolyser Manufacturing, Jindal India, and John Cockerill Greenko Hydrogen Solutions are among the six businesses that have been successful in obtaining incentives for setting up production facilities for electrolysers, which are an essential part of the generation of green hydrogen. The six winning companies were disclosed in a statement released by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) on January 12, 2024. The SECI had invited bids for the establishment of 1.5 GW of electrolyser manufacturing capacity.
Incentives worth Rs 444 crore were obtained by Reliance Electrolyser Manufacturing. in order to create a 300 MW electrolyser manufacturing capability. Similarly, incentives totaling Rs 444 crore were given to Jindal India Ltd. and John Cockerill Greenko Hydrogen Solutions Private. for their respective 300 MW manufacturing capacity. Incentives of Rs 202.76 crore, Rs 148 crore, and Rs 93.24 crore were given to Ohmium Operations , Advait Infratech (working in partnership with Rajesh Power Service ), and L&T Electrolysers . for their respective capacities.
The six companies together have obtained incentives under ‘Bucket-1: Electrolyser manufacturing capacity based on any stack technology’ totaling Rs 1,776 crore for 1200 MW. Only eight of the 14 companies were eligible for the incentives, hence no capacity was allotted under this scheme for Matrix Gas and Renewables, HHP Seven, ACME Cleantech Solutions, Adani New Industries, Waaree Energies, Avaada Electrolyser, Green H2 Network India, and Hild Electric.
The winning bidders in “Bucket-2: Electrolyser manufacturing capacity based on indigenously developed stack technology” were Adani New Industries and Homihydrogen. Adani New Industries obtained incentives of Rs 293.78 crore for 198.5 MW, while Homihydrogen won incentives of Rs 150.22 crore for 101.5 MW. Five of the seven companies in this category did not receive any incentives from the programme.
With an investment of Rs 19,744 crore, the Union Cabinet authorised the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) in January 2023 with the goal of making India a global leader in the generation of green hydrogen. The mission focuses on establishing two green hydrogen hubs initially, with three major ports—Deendayal, Paradip, and V O Chidambaranar (Tuticorin) Ports—identified by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways for development into hydrogen hubs. The mission aims to develop 5 million metric tonnes per annum of green hydrogen production capacity by 2030.
