Nxtra Data, a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, has released the second edition of its Sustainability Report for the fiscal year 2023-24. The report outlines the company’s commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, with a focus on building sustainable and future-ready infrastructure.

According to the report, Nxtra is investing in digitised infrastructure designed to handle high-density workloads while scaling seamlessly to support customer growth. The company emphasises that sustainability has been a key factor in its operations from the beginning.

“The future of data centres lies in our ability to harmonise intelligent infrastructure with sustainability. Integrating innovative ESG initiatives into our business model and operations has been integral to our data centre build and operations from day one. As our sustainability report highlights, we have made consistent progress across all three sustainability parameters ‘environment, social and governance’ during the year and will continue to keep it as our core focus area.” Ashish Arora, CEO of Nxtra by Airtel, stated.

Nxtra’s approach to building data centre infrastructure is centered around being “Intelligent by Design and Sustainable by Choice.” The company aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2031 and has been increasing its investments in clean energy, as well as water and waste management solutions. These initiatives are part of Nxtra’s efforts to support its operations and develop smart, resilient data centres with sustainability at their core.

Currently, Nxtra by Airtel operates the largest network of data centres in India, with 12 large facilities and 120 edge data centres spread across the country. The company’s ongoing focus on sustainable scaling is expected to play a crucial role in meeting the growing demands of its customers while maintaining a strong commitment to ESG principles.
