Infosys Partners With RheinEnergie To Accelerate Energy Transition And Sustainability For Enterprises

Leveraging Infosys Cobalt and Infosys Topaz, the collaboration aims to enhance energy efficiency by 30–40% while supporting decarbonisation goals for enterprises

Infosys, a global player in digital services and consulting, has collaborated with RheinEnergie, a prominent German energy service provider, to help enterprises drive their energy transition and sustainability agendas. The partnership will harness the power of Infosys Cobalt—a suite of cloud services, solutions, and platforms—and Infosys Topaz, an AI-first platform using generative AI technologies, to empower businesses to optimize their energy consumption and achieve their decarbonization goals.

Stephan Segbers, Chief Sales Officer at RheinEnergie, emphasized the importance of technological innovation in supporting Germany’s energy transition goals, including the Energiewende (transition to a low-carbon economy) and the Wärmewende (shift to nuclear-free energy systems). “By combining Infosys’ global expertise with RheinEnergie’s experience, we offer businesses a comprehensive solution to monitor, control, and optimize their energy usage while ensuring they meet their sustainability objectives,” Segbers said. “This partnership will help accelerate the journey to a clean energy future.”

The collaboration aims to decentralise the energy transition, offering solutions that integrate renewable energy generation, storage, energy markets, grids, and energy-consuming assets. With these solutions, enterprises will be able to choose the most cost-effective, low-carbon energy sources and maximise profits from on-site renewable energy generation. The partnership will assist businesses in optimizing their energy strategies, ensuring energy efficiency improvements of up to 30-40 per cent.

The initial focus will be on industries such as travel and transportation, commercial real estate, and manufacturing, helping them navigate the complex energy transition and sustainability challenges. RheinEnergie’s clients, including Cologne/Bonn Airport, are already benefiting from these innovations. Thilo Schmid, CEO of Cologne/Bonn Airport GmbH, expressed the value of the collaboration, noting that it simplifies the sustainable transformation of energy and supply infrastructure, helping the airport meet its sustainability goals while benefiting travellers, the environment, and the surrounding community.

Ashiss Kumar Dash, Executive Vice President & Global Head of Services, Utilities, Resources, Energy, and Sustainability at Infosys, highlighted the urgency of this energy transformation. “Decarbonization at scale is no longer optional; it’s a business imperative,” he said. “Through our collaboration with RheinEnergie, we offer cloud solutions and AI-powered insights that allow enterprises to better understand energy consumption patterns, identify optimization opportunities, and meet decarbonization goals. The future is one where businesses can intelligently control their energy flows, choose cost-effective fuel sources, and maximize the value of their on-site renewable energy.”
