The recognition places Waaree Energies among the top 5 per cent of global companies for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance
Waaree Energies, India’s largest solar PV module manufacturer and a leading name in global clean energy solutions, has achieved a major milestone by becoming the first Indian solar PV manufacturer to receive the prestigious EcoVadis Gold Medal. The company earned a 97 percentile ranking, placing it among the top 5 per cent of companies worldwide recognised for their commitment to environmental, social, and ethical business practices.
This prestigious EcoVadis certification highlights Waaree Energies’ dedication to responsible corporate citizenship and sustainable value creation. The certification not only strengthens the company’s reputation globally but also enhances its eligibility for partnerships with ESG-conscious organisations and opens doors to new market opportunities. Additionally, the rigorous evaluation process helps identify potential environmental, social, and governance risks while supporting resource optimization and long-term cost efficiency.
Amit Paithankar, Whole-time Director and CEO of Waaree Energies, commented on the achievement, stating, “This milestone is a testament to our commitment to sustainability. Being the first Indian solar PV manufacturer to receive this honor reflects our dedication to embedding sustainability in every aspect of our business. This recognition sets a new standard for India’s solar manufacturing sector, further solidifying our position as a trusted global partner in responsible solar manufacturing.”
Prabhu Narayan Singh, Chief Sustainability Officer at Waaree Energies, emphasised that sustainability is integral to the company’s operations. “At Waaree Energies, sustainability is embedded in every step, from product development to supply chain practices. As the only Indian solar PV manufacturer to achieve this distinction, we are reshaping the clean energy sector by setting new ESG benchmarks and creating long-term, responsible impact.”
Waaree Energies’ commitment to sustainability is also reflected in its ongoing efforts to decarbonize the solar value chain, from sourcing to manufacturing and installation. Recently, the company also earned the environmental product declaration (EPD) certification for its low-carbon solar modules, further demonstrating that ‘Make in India’ can compete with global standards not only in scale but also in sustainability.
