Govt Names Akash Tripathi As Seci MD

In a recent development, the government has appointed Akash Tripathi, a 1998-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, as Managing Director of Solar Energy Corporation of India (Seci).
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved his appointment in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India, Seci said in a statement on Wednesday.
“Akash Tripathi, IAS, appointed as MD, while Santosh Sarangi to continue as Chairman,” as per statement reported by PTI.
Seci, a central public sector undertaking under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, is the nodal agency for implementing India’s renewable energy programmes.
Established in 2011, it has been responsible for auctioning renewable power projects, facilitating power purchase agreements and driving large-scale solar, wind, hybrid and emerging areas such as green hydrogen and storage. The corporation has floated tenders for over 60 gigawatt (GW) of renewable capacity, making it the only CPSU dedicated exclusively to clean energy
