Sunsure Energy, NTPC Seal 500 MWh Bess Deal With UPPCL

Sunsure Energy and NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN), have signed a first-of-its-kind Battery Energy Discharge Purchase Agreement (BEDPA) to deliver 500 megawatt-hours (MWh) of peak power to the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL).
The deal marks India’s pioneering agreement featuring a billing model based on energy discharge tariffs. Under the project, a standalone Battery Energy Storage System (Bess) will be set up at the Garautha substation in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. The agreement will ensure reliable supply between 6 pm and 10 am, addressing peak demand hours at competitive tariffs.
