Adani Green Energy Surpasses 12,000 MW Renewable Energy Capacity

Company reaches new milestone with record capacity and rapid progress at the world’s largest renewable energy plant in Khavda, Gujarat

Adani Green Energy (AGEL), India’s largest renewable energy company, has surpassed 12,000 megawatts (MW) in its operational renewable energy portfolio. This makes AGEL the first and only company in India to reach such a capacity. With a total of 12,258.1 MW in operation, AGEL leads the industry with a diverse portfolio of 8,347.5 MW solar, 1,651 MW wind, and 2,259.6 MW wind-solar hybrid capacity.

The company said that the achievement reinforces AGEL’s commitment to its ambitious target of delivering 50,000 MW of clean energy by 2030, which will power over 6.2 million homes and avoid around 22.64 million tonne of CO2 emissions annually. This reduction in emissions is equivalent to the carbon sequestered by 1,078 million trees.

AGEL’s growth is powered by the world’s largest renewable energy project at Khavda, Gujarat. With a total planned capacity of 30,000 MW, the Khavda plant, located on 538 square kilometers of barren land, is set to become the largest power plant of any kind across the globe. So far, AGEL has successfully operationalized 2,824.1 MW at Khavda, marking a major step forward in India’s renewable energy journey.

The company now contribute to over 10 per cent of India’s total installed utility-scale solar and wind capacity and more than 13 per cent of the country’s utility-scale solar installations.
