Andhra Pradesh Starts Sustainable E-Waste Drive with Re Sustainability Reldan

Swachha Andhra Corporation signs MoU to establish E-waste collection centre in Vijayawada, with a phased expansion plan across the state

In a move toward a circular economy and responsible waste management, Swachha Andhra Corporation (SAC), under the Government of Andhra Pradesh, has formalised a strategic partnership with Re Sustainability Reldan Refining (ReSRRPL) to develop a scientific and scalable system for electronic waste collection and processing in the state.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed in the presence of senior state officials and district commissioners, paves the way for setting up a dedicated 5,000 sq. ft. e-waste collection centre in Vijayawada. The initiative aims to improve the collection, segregation and safe disposal of E-waste while creating community-level awareness and encouraging environmentally responsible practices.

SAC will facilitate critical infrastructure support, coordination with the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB), and mobilise self-help groups (SHGs) to participate in grassroots collection drives. ReSRRPL will bring in its technical capabilities to ensure compliance, transparency and efficiency in material recovery through advanced recycling technologies.

“This MoU is a significant step toward transforming Andhra Pradesh into a national leader in circular economy and sustainable waste management,” said  Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram, Chairman of Swachha Andhra Corporation. “By fostering public-private collaboration, we are building not just infrastructure, but a culture of environmental responsibility and innovation.”

The programme is set to be implemented across other districts in a phased manner, with planned outreach to municipalities and government departments to establish a structured and replicable model of E-waste management.

Masood Mallick, Managing Director and Group CEO of Re Sustainability, said the partnership marks a pivotal step in reframing waste as a valuable resource. “Through responsible E-waste recycling and high-efficiency resource recovery, we can close the loop, reduce pressure on virgin material extraction, and support a regenerative, low-carbon economy. We’re proud to work alongside SAC in enabling this model of environmental stewardship and circularity.”

By combining administrative commitment and industry expertise, the collaboration is expected to build a strong foundation for Andhra Pradesh’s long-term vision of sustainable urban development and inclusive environmental governance.
