Avaada Commissions 11 Solar Plants In Maharashtra To Power Farmers Under MSKVY 2.0

CSR-backed initiative brings daytime irrigation power to 14,900 farmers across Yavatmal

Diversified energy company Avaada Group has commissioned 11 solar projects in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal district under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0, aimed at providing farmers with reliable daytime electricity for irrigation.

The plants, spread across Kinhi, Baldi, Dongarkharda, Bansi, Patan, Mhasola, Galwa, Pathrad, Parjana, Sawargaon and Sarfali, have a combined capacity of 35 MW. They are expected to benefit nearly 14,900 farmers across 167 villages, cutting irrigation costs, reducing accident risks and generating additional lease income from land used for solar installations.

Vineet Mittal, Chairman, Avaada Group, said the programme was an example of how renewable energy can uplift rural communities. “The Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 is a model for how clean energy can directly empower farmers while contributing to India’s energy transition,” he said.

Scaling clean energy in Maharashtra
Avaada is implementing more than 1,132 MW of solar projects under MSKVY 2.0 across districts including Nashik, Pune, Sangli, Ahmednagar and Beed. The state scheme, first launched in 2017 and upgraded in its current form, targets the solarisation of 30 per cent of agricultural feeders through nearly 7,000 MW of decentralised solar projects in the 0.5–25 MW range.

Rural and environmental benefits
The programme delivers multiple gains: farmers receive dependable daytime supply and lower energy bills, while state discoms reduce their subsidy burden and procurement costs. Environmentally, the scheme lessens reliance on fossil fuels and lowers Maharashtra’s carbon footprint.
