Bank Of Baroda Partners With Prayagraj Municipal Corporation For Sustainable Development

Bank of Baroda to support PMC’s waste management and conservation projects under a three-year partnership, reinforcing its commitment to eco-friendly solutions

Bank of Baroda, one of India’s leading public sector banks, has declared a strategic partnership with the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) as its sustainability development partner. This collaboration, which will span three years, aligns with the bank’s ‘BOB Earth’ programme and marks a step towards promoting sustainable urban development in the city of Prayagraj.

As part of this partnership, the Bank of Baroda will provide crucial support for PMC’s semi-solid waste management initiatives. The collaboration includes the deployment of advanced machinery at the Baswar Plant for treating and managing semi-solid waste material. These treatment processes will help minimise environmental impact, with the resulting waste being used in composting, promoting soil health, reducing erosion, and conserving water. The project aims to reduce waste and contribute to broader efforts to combat climate change.

Furthermore, the bank has also taken on the role of ‘Green Partner’ for the Daak Ghar Chauraha installation near the Post Office in Civil Lines, Prayagraj. This installation, a tribute to postal workers, features a 10-foot high statue of a postman made entirely of sustainable materials, showcasing the importance of eco-friendly initiatives in public art.

Lal Singh, Executive Director at Bank of Baroda, commented, “Bank of Baroda is proud to partner with Prayagraj Municipal Corporation on this important initiative. Sustainability is at the core of our values, and the ‘BOB Earth’ programme is a testament to our ongoing commitment to creating positive environmental impact. This partnership allows us to collaborate with local authorities to foster eco-friendly solutions and contribute to long-term sustainability.”

The ‘BOB Earth’ programme has already started several green initiatives. Through this collaboration, Bank of Baroda aims to support PMC’s broader sustainability goals, which include energy-efficient infrastructure, green spaces, and integrated waste management systems.
