Coca Cola India Champions Sustainability At Maha Kumbh 2025 With Maidaan Saaf Initiatives
Collaborates with PHDRDF and PMA to implement innovative waste management and recycling solutions at India’s largest cultural gathering
Coca-Cola India, alongside its foundation Anandana, has started several sustainability initiatives at Maha Kumbh 2025, in collaboration with the PHD Rural Development Foundation (PHDRDF) and Prayagraj Mela Authority (PMA). These initiatives focus on innovative waste management practices, recycling awareness, and the use of recycled plastic products.
As part of the Maidaan Saaf campaign, Coca-Cola has distributed 21,500 recycled PET jackets to sanitation workers, boatmen, and volunteers, highlighting the potential of recycled plastic, as per the press release. Additionally, 1,000 women’s changing rooms made from recycled multi-layered plastic waste have been set up along the river ghats, promoting privacy and sustainability. The rooms feature artwork by renowned Indian illustrators, turning waste segregation into a visually engaging experience.
The company has also installed reverse vending machines (RVMs) at key locations and set up hydration carts every 400 meters with built-in waste collection bins, further supporting recycling efforts.
These initiatives aim to reduce waste and promote sustainable practices, ensuring that Maha Kumbh 2025 is an eco-conscious event with a lasting impact.
