Cooper Corporation Begins Export of EPA-Certified Gas Gensets To US, Japan

Satara-based engine maker becomes first Indian company to export EPA-compliant gas gensets
Cooper Corporation has initiated exports of its gas-powered generators to the United States and Japan, as per a press release.
The company’s first consignment includes 10 kVA and 25 kVA gas gensets that meet US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards—reportedly the only engines of their kind currently manufactured in India to do so. The 25 kVA model, in particular, has seen early demand in the US market.
Cooper is also exporting 10 kVA V-Twin LPG gensets to Japan, through a partnership with Japanese firm Sinfonia. The two markets represent key early steps in the company’s broader plan to export gas gensets ranging from 5 kVA to 500 kVA.
With emissions regulations tightening across developed economies, EPA certification is a prerequisite for entering the US power generation market.
“Today marks the start of large-scale exports of EPA-certified gensets to the US,” said Farrokh N. Cooper, Chairman and Managing Director of Cooper Corporation. He noted that while the company has previously supplied engines to the US over several decades, this is the first major export push featuring gas-powered gensets that meet updated regulatory standards.
The company said that its engines are not new to critical applications. In the domestic market, the company also recently introduced a 50 HP tractor in February 2025, aimed at medium-scale farming operations.
