Crompton Secures Rs 445 Crore Rooftop Solar Deal In Andhra Pradesh

The project will electrify over 40,000 households in Andhra Pradesh, supporting government efforts to expand solar access among underserved communities

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals has won a Rs 445 crore contract to install rooftop solar systems across Andhra Pradesh, signalling a major push into the renewable energy sector.

The project entails the installation of 77.40 MWp of rooftop solar capacity, providing 2 kW on-grid systems to more than 40,000 households, predominantly from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities. The systems will be deployed across five divisions: Kovur, Tirupati Rural, Puttur, Chittoor (O), and Chittoor (R).
Awarded by the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP), the contract covers the complete spectrum of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services. Crompton Greaves will be responsible for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar units, along with a five-year comprehensive operation and maintenance agreement. The company anticipates completing the project within six months.

The initiative forms part of the Indian government’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, aimed at promoting solar energy adoption among underserved communities. Crompton’s foray into rooftop solar reflects a broader strategy to diversify its product portfolio, which already includes pumps, lighting, and solar solutions, while contributing to India’s renewable energy objectives.
