E-buses To Ply On Himachal’s Roads, Tenders To Be Issued Soon: CM Sukhu
To optimise costs and promote sustainability, the state plans to gradually replace 1,500 diesel buses from the Himachal Road Transport Corporation fleet
With the state’s steep geography as a problem, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu advised businesses to concentrate on producing electric buses. According to a statement, Sukhu declared that tenders for the purchase of e-buses would be released soon, along with stringent delivery deadlines, during a meeting with original equipment manufacturers (OEM) in Dharamshala. Underscoring the significance of upholding superior manufacturing practices, he instructed businesses to guarantee that the electric buses have sufficient boot space and loading capacity.
According to Sukhu, the state intends to gradually replace 1,500 of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation’s diesel buses in order to increase cost effectiveness and encourage sustainability. The chief minister reaffirmed the state government’s pledge to offer people pleasant transit options while upholding carbon-free and ecologically friendly standards.
The state has demonstrated its proactive commitment in this area by establishing important green corridors, which include, among other routes, Parwanoo-Solan-Shimla-Rampur-Losar, Paonta-Nahan-Solan-Shimla and Parwanoo-Nalagarh-Una-Hamirpur-Sansarpur. The government’s attempts to update public transport, solve environmental issues and adjust to the region’s particular topography are all in line with the shift to electric buses.
