Essar Green Mobility Targets USD 1 Bn Turnover In Three Years

Essar’s clean transport arm bets on LNG and electric fleets to reshape India’s heavy trucking sector

Essar Green Mobility, the clean transport arm of the Essar Group, is eyeing a turnover of USD 1 billion (around Rs 8,850 crore) within three years as it scales up its green trucking platform across the country. The company plans to deploy a fleet of 10,000 heavy commercial vehicles powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and electricity over the same period.

The venture is designed to address one of the most pressing challenges in road transport, decarbonising long-haul trucks. These vehicles account for nearly 40-45 per cent of India’s crude oil consumption, which is refined into diesel and used in the movement of steel, cement, iron ore and other essential goods.

Essar Green Mobility currently operates clean-fuel logistics services and a fleet of LNG and electric-powered trucks. By expanding this base, the company aims to cut reliance on diesel, lower emissions, and align with national targets for carbon reduction in heavy transport.

While the ambition is to build a 10,000-truck platform, the USD 1 billion turnover milestone will depend on the pace and phasing of the rollout. The initiative forms part of the wider Essar Group strategy to reorient businesses around energy transition and sustainable infrastructure.

If executed as planned, the venture could alter the landscape of heavy-duty trucking in India, one of the largest contributors to fossil fuel use and industrial emissions.
