FedEx adds 13 new electric vehicles in Mumbai, reinforcing commitment to carbon-neutral operations and sustainable deliveries

FedEx is accelerating its commitment to sustainable logistics in India by deploying more electric vehicles (EVs) for last-mile delivery. The company recently introduced 13 Tata Ace EVs in Mumbai, increasing its fleet of electric vehicles to 59 across key Indian cities, including Delhi and Bengaluru. This initiative is part of FedEx’s global goal to achieve carbon-neutral operations by 2040.

“FedEx was the first global delivery company to introduce hybrid-electric vehicles in 2003, and we began our journey with battery-powered vehicles in 1994,” said Suvendu Choudhury, Vice President of Operations and Planning, FedEx India. “Our phased approach to fleet electrification ensures we continue to meet customer demands while minimizing our carbon footprint.”

In a unique blend of sustainability and brand collaboration, FedEx has launched co-branded EVs with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru. As an Official Sponsor of CSK, this initiative combines the energy and precision of both brands, reinforcing FedEx’s long-term investment in India.

Electric vehicles are becoming a game-changer in logistics, offering clean, efficient solutions for last-mile delivery while reducing carbon emissions. Research commissioned by FedEx revealed that 90 per cent of Indian consumers prefer businesses that prioritize sustainable practices, making the expansion of EVs a key strategy for meeting growing consumer demand for eco-friendly solutions.

By continuing to expand its EV fleet, FedEx is not only reducing its environmental impact but also advancing India’s sustainable supply chain, demonstrating a strong commitment to cleaner logistics and responsible business practices.
