Women Power India’s Energy Future: FSR Global’s Policy Dialogue Champions Inclusive Transitions

All-women panel redefines India’s Net Zero journey with equity, innovation, and action at the core

FSR Global convened an all-women panel of energy leaders, policymakers, and changemakers for a high-impact policy dialogue on enhancing women’s participation in India’s energy sector.

Organised in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union to India, with support from Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited and UN Women, the dialogue featured two dynamic panel sessions. Moderated by Mani Khurana of the World Bank and Swetha Ravi Kumar of FSR Global, the discussions brought together experts from government, industry, academia, and civil society to explore the themes of integration, innovation, and inclusion in India’s clean energy transition, as well as how to align and amplify existing women-centric programs for broader impact.

Panelists included prominent voices such as  Shivani Sharma (IEEE, IEEMA), Kiran Gupta (TP Ajmer Distribution ), Suhela Khan (UN Women), Padmaja Tiwari (Siemens Energy), and academics and innovators like Kaveri Iychettira (IIT Delhi), Sheetal Rastogi (Finovista), and Swati Chowdhary (Women’s World Banking). Their message was unequivocal: gender is not a side issue in the energy sector—it is foundational. From the role of local governance and the critical need for gender-disaggregated data to the power of decentralized innovation and policy coherence, the dialogue underscored the urgency of structural reform.

Beyond the panels, the event engaged students through a Smart Grid Lab Tour, giving them a first-hand look at next-gen technologies driving real-time renewable integration and grid intelligence. This immersive experience aimed to inspire and equip the next wave of women leaders in the energy space.

The event also sparked bold institutional commitments. Responding to UN Women’s call to action, Finovista pledged a dedicated edition of its flagship initiative, #EnergyDozen, to address clean cooking—a sector deeply tied to women’s health and empowerment yet severely underfunded. Meanwhile, FSR Global announced five full-time scholarships exclusively for Indian women at its Energy Transition Academy, reinforcing the need for inclusive capacity building in this critical field.
