Greenzo To Build Green Hydrogen Plant For JSL In Odisha

Greenzo will provide the electrolyser system, balance-of-plant equipment, erection, installation, and commissioning

Greenzo Energy India has secured an order from Jindal Stainless (JSL), the country’s largest stainless steel producer, to supply and commission an advanced green hydrogen electrolyser plant at JSL’s Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex in Jajpur, Odisha.

The plant will have a designed capacity of 472,409 kg per year, with delivery scheduled within six months of contract signing. Initial output is expected at 0.47 kilo tonnes per annum (KTPA), scalable up to 1.5 KTPA. The green hydrogen will be used in JSL’s Bright Annealing Line and Bell Furnace, supporting the company’s transition to green steel and helping cut its carbon footprint.

As part of the order, Greenzo will provide the electrolyser system, balance-of-plant equipment, erection, installation, and commissioning. The package also includes 30 days of on-site training and 11 months of virtual support for JSL’s technical team to ensure smooth integration and operational efficiency.

Sandeep Agarwal, Managing Director, Greenzo Energy India, said the order reinforces the company’s position as a homegrown hydrogen technology partner. “Our indigenously developed alkaline bipolar electrolyser features India-developed stack technology, delivers hydrogen at 30 bar pressure with 99.99999 per cent purity, and integrates SCADA and AI-based automation for real-time optimisation and predictive diagnostics,” Agarwal said.

The collaboration marks a milestone in JSL’s decarbonisation journey and aligns with India’s net-zero targets and global ESG standards. For Greenzo, the project strengthens its order book and highlights its role in enabling industrial clean energy adoption.

The development comes at a time when India is scaling up investments in hydrogen infrastructure, with policy incentives driving integration of electrolysers into steel, refining and chemical sectors. Analysts expect early adopters like JSL and Greenzo to emerge as frontrunners in the global clean energy value chain.
