IIT Madras To Establish E-Mobility Simulation Lab

The extensive social, academic, and industrial network of IIT Madras, combined with Altair’s expertise, would create fertile ground for innovation and collaboration 

 Altair, a Nasdaq-listed company, has entered into a partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, to establish an e-Mobility Simulation Lab, aimed at advancing research and innovation in the electric vehicles (EVs) sector. The lab, set to be located at the IIT Madras campus, signifies a significant step forward in promoting sustainable transportation solutions within the EV domain.

Altair will provide its design and simulation platform, Altair HyperWorks, and set up the necessary infrastructure for operating Altair simulation codes at the e-Mobility Simulation Lab. Altair, known for offering comprehensive simulation, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and data analytics solutions, is positioned to empower organisations in building more efficient products and processes for tomorrow’s breakthroughs.

Vishwanath Rao, Managing Director of Altair, expressed excitement about collaborating with IIT Madras, emphasising Altair’s commitment to being at the forefront of technology convergence. The partnership aims to turn forward-thinking initiatives into reality within the rapidly evolving technological landscape.

The collaboration leverages IIT Madras’s extensive social, academic, and industrial network and Altair’s expertise, creating a conducive environment for innovation and collaboration. Professor V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, highlighted the institute’s role in the academic space concerning the government’s focus on e-mobility and the expected rapid market expansion. He emphasised the coordination of e-mobility-related initiatives across academic programs, research, and policy, with multiple departments contributing and the Department of Engineering Design serving as the nodal department.
