India, Germany Reaffirm Partnership To Accelerate Green Energy & Sustainable Growth
India, Germany strengthen clean energy alliance to drive growth in solar, wind and green hydrogen sectors
India and Germany have reaffirmed their partnership in renewable energy and sustainable development, marking a renewed phase of cooperation between the two nations. The engagement coincided with the 25th anniversary of the India-Germany strategic partnership and was led by Johann Saathoff, Germany’s Parliamentary State Secretary, during a four-day visit covering Chennai and Delhi-NCR.
The visit underscored the expanding scope of collaboration in solar, wind and green hydrogen technologies. At the Renewable Energy India Expo 2025, the two sides highlighted ongoing joint efforts through the “Team Germany” framework, which brings together ministries, development agencies such as GIZ and KfW, and private-sector partners to strengthen renewable-energy value chains.
One of the visit’s key highlights was the inspection of an Agri-Photovoltaic demonstration site at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi. Developed with German technical cooperation, the initiative aims to combine agricultural productivity with solar-power generation to optimise land use and boost farmer income.
Officials also discussed approaches to integrating large-scale renewable capacity into electricity grids while maintaining competitive and sustainable industrial growth. The dialogue reinforced India’s standing as a major partner in Germany’s global green transition strategy.
The renewed partnership is expected to deepen technology transfer, mobilise investment, and align policy cooperation in key sectors such as clean energy, hydrogen and climate-resilient agriculture, advancing both nations’ commitments to sustainable growth.
