NatWest Group India Partners With Saahas To Tackle Construction Waste In Gurugram With Project बिनMalba

Waste Segregation

In a move to combat the growing C&D waste crisis, NatWest Group India and Saahas introduce project बिनMalba to create scalable waste management solutions for a cleaner, greener Gurugram

Demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, NatWest Group India has partnered with Saahas, an NGO dedicated to waste management, to start Project बिनMalba in Gurugram. This initiative seeks to address the escalating issue of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste in the rapidly urbanising city by introducing innovative and scalable solutions to foster a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment.

At the project launch, Ruchika Panesar, Country Head of NatWest Group India, shared, “Project बिनMalba represents our dedication to responsible waste management and environmental sustainability. Over the next 16 months, we aim to implement sustainable solutions that address the growing challenge of C&D waste, beginning with select areas in Zone 3 of Gurugram. Our goal is to pave the way for a more efficient and cleaner C&D waste management system in the city.”

The initiative aims to:

Raise Awareness:
Educate Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs), waste collection agencies, and civil contractors on their roles in managing C&D waste sustainably.

Recycling Goals:
Divert approximately 2000 MT of C&D waste for recycling and streamline waste collection and transportation to reduce illegal dumping.

Provide Solutions:
Create a comprehensive report to the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) that will guide the development of a scalable C&D waste management approach for the entire city.

The launch event included a panel discussion with key stakeholders, including Balpreet Singh, Additional Commissioner of MCG Gurugram, and Archana Tripathi, CEO of Saahas, who highlighted the importance of creating a clearer understanding of C&D waste disposal responsibilities among citizens, contractors, and waste generators. Ms. Tripathi shared insights from a similar initiative in Bengaluru, emphasising the need for a well-structured collection and transportation system for non-bulk waste generators to prevent illegal dumping.

The event also saw active participation from RWAs, corporate bodies, and engaged citizens committed to solving this urgent urban issue. Experts discussed the detrimental impact of uncontrolled C&D waste on public health and the Aravalli biodiversity, stressing the importance of responsible waste management.

Through Project बिनMalba, NatWest Group India continues to lead by example, aligning with India’s circular economy goals and promoting responsible C&D waste disposal practices.
