NCR Transport Corporation Inaugurates Solar Power Plants At Sahibabad, Duhai Depots
In July, a solar power plant was also established at the RRTS Depot in Duhai with an installed capacity of 585 kilowatt ‘peak’ (kWp), making this a green depot
Two solar power plants were recently installed at the Sahibabad and Duhai depot Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) stations by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). Officials estimate that the combined output of these facilities will produce about 10 lakh units of power per year. With 1,620 high-efficiency solar panels, the solar power plant at the Sahibabad station has a 729 kilowatt total capacity. It is anticipated that the plant will generate more power annually than the station’s auxiliary load consumption—roughly 10 lakh units versus 7.3 lakh units annually for the station.
The NCRTC Managing Director, Vinay Kumar Singh, officially opened the solar power plant at the Sahibabad station. Similar to this, in July the RRTS Depot in Duhai saw the installation of a 585 kWp solar power plant, which helped to construct a green depot. The NCRTC estimates that the installation of these solar power plants will result in a significant annual decrease of about 1,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
This decline is a result of solar energy, which is more ecologically friendly, replacing traditional fossil fuel-based power sources. The NCRTC highlights that this move is in line with its objective to reduce its carbon footprint while simultaneously maximising operating expenses. For NCRTC, switching to renewable energy sources is a calculated step towards both cost-effective operations and environmental aims.
