Over 66,000 Amazon India Employees Participate In Global Volunteering Month 2025

Company supports 530 community initiatives across more than 60 cities

Amazon India announced the completion of its Global Month of Volunteering (GMV) held in May 2025, with over 66,000 employees participating in a wide range of community-focused initiatives. Conducted across more than 60 cities, the company facilitated 530 volunteering events in partnership with over 100 non-profit organisations.

The activities addressed key areas such as women’s empowerment, sustainability, food security, education, and community development. The initiative included in-person, virtual, and hybrid events, enabling employees to contribute time and skills across multiple formats.

As part of the campaign, Amazon claimed that its volunteers engaged in several initiatives, including assembling and distributing over 100,000 resource kits. These included STEM learning tools, sports equipment, menstrual health kits, stationery supplies, first-aid kits, and other materials tailored to community needs.

In Hyderabad and Bengaluru, volunteers contributed to the setup and operation of Amazon Community Kitchens. These kitchens collectively served approximately 200,000 hot meals prepared in a langar-style setting, supported by more than 600 volunteers.

Amazon also launched ‘Project Blue’, a sustainability-focused initiative involving the restoration of urban lakes in Bengaluru. Volunteers constructed floating wetlands using aquatic plants such as Canna indica, which are known to assist in water purification and ecosystem restoration.

Reflecting on the month-long effort, Samir Kumar, Country Manager, Amazon India, said, “The power of volunteering extends beyond a single day of service. When we combine Amazon’s scale with the passion and creativity of our employees, it can create meaningful change in communities.”

Employees shared their experiences across various initiatives, highlighting the opportunity to engage directly with local communities. Amulya Devalaraju, Associate, Customer Service Operations, Amazon India, said: “What I cherish most about volunteering is witnessing the pure joy of the children and individuals I have the opportunity to serve.”
