PHDCCI Conference Highlights Sustainable Solutions & Innovation In The Packaging Industry

 Industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators gather to discuss advancements in packaging with a strong focus on sustainability at PHDCCI’s Conference on ‘Advances in Packaging’

 

The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) hosted a conference on ‘Advances in Packaging,’ bringing together leaders from the packaging sector, government officials, and innovators to discuss the industry’s evolving landscape. The event, which focused heavily on sustainability and innovation, underscored the importance of collaboration to tackle challenges and explore opportunities in the packaging industry.

Ajit Gupta, Chair of the PHDCCI Packaging Committee and Managing Director, Ajit Industries, emphasised the need for strong partnerships between industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to drive forward-thinking and environmentally responsible packaging solutions. “Let’s continue to engage, exchange ideas, and work towards a packaging ecosystem that is both forward-thinking and environmentally responsible,” said Gupta.

The conference, supported by industry partners like Uflex, Siegwerk, AIPL, and key supporters such as the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), explored crucial themes around packaging sustainability and policy reforms. Tanweer Alam, Additional Director at IIP, stressed the importance of packaging in government food safety initiatives, advocating for more robust policy support to ensure packaging meets sustainability goals.

The conference also featured various insightful panel discussions, including a session on the future of packaging. Sanjay Gupta, Senior VP at DS Group, called for greater recognition and incentives for packaging professionals, emphasizing the need to view packaging as a valuable career path. Other speakers, including Sagar Singh from BIS and Tamal Ghosh from JK Organisation, discussed challenges and technological advancements in sustainable packaging, particularly in paper-based solutions and regulatory support.

Other sessions included discussions on counterfeiting challenges and brand protection by Ankit Gupta from Holostik Group, as well as sustainable packaging solutions by Subhra Sankha Nandi from PACKult Studio. Topics also covered flexible packaging, pharmaceutical packaging, and waste management, with industry leaders sharing best practices and sustainability strategies.

The conference concluded with a collective vision for the future of the packaging industry, calling for greater collaboration between industry players, policymakers, and innovators. The participants agreed that to achieve sustainable growth, the packaging sector needs further technological advancements, policy reforms, and industry-wide cooperation.
