PM Modi Suggests Five Green Energy Projects With Oman
Green hydrogen, solar parks and energy storage emerge as focus areas as India looks to deepen clean energy ties with Muscat
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called for closer India-Oman collaboration on five large green energy projects over the next five years, signalling a sharper push to align clean energy ambitions with bilateral trade and investment ties.
Addressing the India-Oman Business Summit in Muscat, Modi urged companies from both countries to jointly develop projects in green hydrogen, green ammonia, solar power parks, energy storage systems and smart grid infrastructure. He said the proposed initiatives should set new benchmarks in renewable energy cooperation between India and Oman.
The Prime Minister underlined that clean energy had emerged as a central pillar of India’s global economic engagement, particularly with energy-producing regions in West Asia. He said Oman’s strategic location and India’s expanding renewable ecosystem offered scope for long-term partnerships across production, technology and supply chains.
As part of the broader cooperation framework, Modi also proposed setting up an India-Oman Innovation Bridge aimed at connecting at least 200 startups within two years. The platform is expected to facilitate joint work in technology development, research and commercial deployment.
Linking energy security with food security, he suggested the creation of an India-Oman Agri Innovation Hub to take Indian agricultural technologies to global markets.
Modi noted the seventy-year-old diplomatic relationship between the two countries and called for deeper engagement in trade, investment and energy to match the changing global economic landscape.
