Powercon Cuts 5.6 Lakh Tonne CO₂, Slashes Plastic Use 60% In ESG Push
Renewable energy group diverts 85 per cent waste from landfills, trains 6,000 professionals, and targets further 5 per cent emission cut by 2030
Powercon Group, a global renewable energy asset creation and management company, has released its latest ESG and Sustainability Performance Report, outlining measurable progress in its transition towards net zero and responsible growth.
For the reporting period, the Pune-headquartered group supported an overall reduction of around 5.6 lakh tonne of carbon dioxide emissions, driven by improved energy efficiency, the deployment of digital operations and maintenance technologies, and enhanced on-site operational practices. The company also reported year-on-year gains in energy generation, reflecting higher asset reliability and improved field performance across its renewable portfolio.
Circularity and resource efficiency emerged as key focus areas. Powercon reduced plastic usage by 60 per cent and reinforced an almost complete ban on single-use plastic across offices, warehouses, and O&M sites. Around 85 per cent of total waste was diverted from landfills, while 55 per cent of components were refurbished rather than replaced. The group also reported that 70 per cent of energy consumption across its offices and operations now comes from renewable sources.
Supply-chain sustainability showed notable progress, with more than 40 per cent of value-chain partners for critical components onboarded and 65 per cent of suppliers operating under circularity compliance. The company reported 100 per cent adherence to its Supplier Code of Conduct. Through its Core Academy, Powercon trained over 6,000 renewable energy professionals, contributing to skills development in the clean-energy sector.
On governance, the group recorded zero non-compliances, data breaches, or human-rights violations during the period. Powercon was awarded the Confederation of Indian Industry’s EcoEdge recognition and secured a Bronze rating under the Government of India’s ZED (Zero Defect Zero Effect) certification.
Praveen Kakulte, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, said sustainability was now embedded across the business, extending beyond emissions reduction to ethical supply chains and workforce development.
Looking ahead, Powercon plans to deepen its presence across key Indian renewable corridors, expand projects in Africa and Southeast Asia, and achieve a further 5 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3 by 2030.
