Proweps Secures Extension For Its Existing Compressed Biogas Plant In Sweden
The additional extension enhances the plant’s ability to process organic waste by incorporating a liquid organic waste reception system
Germany-based Proweps Envirotec GmbH, a subsidiary of leading biofuels company GPS Renewables, has executed an order for an extension of its existing anaerobic digestion plant in Västerås, Sweden.
The bio-compressed natural gas (CNG) plant, with uninterrupted operations for 15 years, can process up to 48,000 tonne of food waste annually. The additional extension enhances the plant’s ability to process organic waste by incorporating a liquid organic waste reception system. Proweps has designed, provided and integrated the new waste reception system, including tanks, stirrers, valves, and instrumentation, into the existing system.
The plant has been designed to handle a wide variety of waste streams, including food waste, packaged supermarket waste, and grease trap removal sludge with contaminants. Its substrate flexibility, combined with high-quality biogas production, has enabled the facility to produce both bioCNG and bioLNG, while generating high-grade fertiliser for direct agricultural use. The system is a modern, clean, and continuously operating plant with minimal personnel requirement.
Commenting on the new project, Dieter Korz, Managing Partner, Proweps, said, “We are excited to continue our longtime partnership with VafabMiljo and provide additional enhancements to the existing project. Over the last several years, we have created a significant impact with our existing project and we look forward to continuing the momentum”
Currently proweps is involved in several new engineering projects in Poland, Kuwait, Israel and provides different engineering services for industrial scale anaerobic digestion plants. The new projects include feedstocks such as agricultural and industrial organic waste and municipal solid waste. Proweps supports GPSR also extensively in the design and engineering of compressed biogas plants in India.
