Quality Power Acquires 76% Stake In Veeral Controls

Deal strengthens industrial power electronics capabilities and positions Quality Power for hydrogen, traction, and defence infrastructure opportunities

Quality Power Electrical Equipments has acquired a 76 per cent stake in Veeral Controls, a Gandhinagar-based firm with over three decades of experience in high-current power electronics and industrial power conversion systems.

Founded in 1993 by IIT alumnus Varunesh Kumar, Veeral Controls designs and manufactures high-current rectifier systems, traction power converters, and defence-grade power electronics. Its portfolio includes Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) and Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) based rectifiers, converter stacks, and high-current power supplies for hydrogen production, railways, heavy industry, nuclear facilities, and strategic defence installations. The company has delivered mission-critical platforms rated up to 72 kA, including high-voltage nuclear-grade power supplies and traction conversion systems.

The acquisition expands Quality Power’s presence in medium-voltage industrial power electronics, particularly in high-current rectification and process-level power conversion. These technologies complement the group’s existing offerings in high-voltage grid equipment, power quality systems, and FACTS solutions. Integration is expected to enable more comprehensive electrical solutions and create demand for transformers, reactors, harmonic filters, and instrument transformers. The deal also enhances power quality capabilities through Endoks, linking industrial power conversion with advanced harmonic mitigation and dynamic compensation.

Veeral Controls serves a diversified customer base including ABB, Hitachi, BHEL, BARC, Indian Railways, Indian Navy, Heavy Water Board, DRDO, Tata Power, Tata Steel, and Renew Power, with systems supplied across India, Europe, the United States, Australia, and the Middle East.

“Veeral’s expertise in high-current rectifiers, traction and defence power electronics strengthens our ability to serve customers directly at the point of power conversion and expands our relevance across the evolving hydrogen, traction and strategic infrastructure space,” said Manu Achuthan, Chief Marketing Officer of Quality Power.

Veeral Controls will continue to operate with engineering continuity under Quality Power’s ownership, leveraging the group’s financial strength and global reach. The acquisition forms part of Quality Power’s long-term strategy to advance its high-voltage and high-power electronics capabilities in line with the energy transition.
