Rapido Expands Pink Mobility Nationwide

In partnership with Azad Foundation and Sakha Consulting Wings, Rapido aims to create a sustainable fleet of 2 lakh women captains, driving economic empowerment across India
Rapido, India’s largest ride-sharing platform, has declared the nationwide expansion of its Pink Mobility initiative, which aims to provide sustainable earning opportunities for women and promote their financial independence. The initiative will create job opportunities in the transport sector and offer skill development, with a goal of building a fleet of over 2 lakh women captains across the country in the next three years.
In a move towards achieving this vision, Rapido has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two prominent organizations—Azad Foundation and Sakha Consulting Wings. The MoU focuses on training underprivileged women in professional driving skills, offering them employment, and fostering economic empowerment in the mobility sector.
The official event, EmpowHer: Driving Financial Inclusion and Empowerment, was held at the India International Centre in New Delhi. The event brought together industry experts, thought leaders, and inspiring women drivers to discuss crucial topics such as creating equitable career pathways, addressing safety challenges, and improving financial literacy for women in non-traditional industries. Speakers included Srinivas Rao, National Lead at Azad Foundation; Dr. Arpita Mukherjee from ICRIER; Anjana, a champion driver from Sakha; and Meenu Vadera, Founder of Azad Foundation, among others.
Rapido’s commitment through this initiative includes creating job opportunities for women drivers, offering fixed monthly earnings of up to Rs 25,000, and providing comprehensive support such as vehicle procurement, training, mentorship, and safety awareness. Rapido also plans to collaborate with policymakers to address the challenges women face in the industry.
Shravya Reddy, Chief of Staff at Rapido, expressed, “Empowering women is central to Rapido’s mission. The nationwide expansion of our Pink Mobility initiative is a critical step in building a more inclusive mobility ecosystem. Our collaboration with Azad Foundation and Sakha Consulting Wings will help provide women with not just jobs but the tools they need for financial independence and personal growth.”
Meenu Vadera, Founder of Azad Foundation, echoed the sentiment, saying, “Gender equality and economic independence are essential for societal progress. This partnership with Rapido is about enabling women to secure sustainable livelihoods and thrive in non-traditional roles, contributing to a more inclusive future.”
As Rapido scales its Pink Mobility initiative across the country, the company remains committed to empowering women, fostering financial independence, and creating a more inclusive workforce in India’s mobility sector.
