Maharatna NBFC recognised for embedding ESG principles into core operations

REC, a Maharatna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, has been honoured with the Sustainability Icons Award 2025 for its excellence in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.

The award was presented by Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law & Justice, at a ceremony in New Delhi on 27 September. Awanish Kumar Bharati, General Manager (Finance), received the award on behalf of REC.

The recognition highlights REC’s efforts to embed comprehensive ESG practices into its operations. The company has been expanding its focus on sustainability, supporting India’s clean energy transition while promoting inclusivity and innovation in its business model.

The accolade, organisers said, underscores REC’s role in driving India’s journey towards a greener and more sustainable economy.
