Redefining Cement For Modern Construction
UltraTech Cement drives sustainability with significant CO2 reduction, renewable energy expansion and circular economy innovations
UltraTech Cement has established itself as a leader in the cement industry with a strong focus on sustainability. In FY24, the company reduced its net CO2 emission intensity to 556 kg/tonne of cementitious products, making significant progress toward its 2032 target of reducing carbon intensity by 27 per cent. UltraTech also doubled its energy productivity ahead of schedule and has utilised over 33 million tonnes of recycled and alternative raw materials in production.
The company has expanded its renewable energy capacity to 612 MW, with an additional 278 MW from waste heat recovery systems (WHRS). UltraTech’s floating
solar photovoltaic panels at its Awarpur Cement Works help reduce CO2 emissions by 6,000 tonnes annually. Water conservation remains a key focus, with UltraTech reusing, recycling and harvesting over 105 million cubic meters of water.
In line with its circular economy initiatives, UltraTech has replaced natural limestone with waste materials like fly ash and red mud, looking at techniques to reduce environmental impact. The company collaborates with global partners to advance decarbonisation and carbon capture technologies.
