REI Expo 2025 Set To Mobilise Rs 1,800 Cr For India’s Bioenergy Growth

Event to spotlight bio-energy innovations and policy-driven growth as India deepens its renewable push

The upcoming Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2025 is expected to draw fresh investment commitments worth over Rs 1,800 crore into India’s bioenergy sector, according to the Indian Biogas Association (IBA).

A dedicated Bio-energy Pavilion, backed by IBA and supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), will showcase innovations in waste-to-energy systems, compressed biogas (CBG) technologies, co-digestion models and digital monitoring tools. This year’s pavilion will feature about 30 per cent more exhibitors than in 2024.

The renewed focus on biogas aligns with key national priorities such as the SATAT (‘Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation’) scheme, the commissioning of CBG plants across several states, and growing recognition of biogas as a feedstock for advanced fuels like methanol and dimethyl ether.

IBA Chairman Gaurav Kedia said India has the potential to produce more than 62 million tonnes of CBG each year. Such capacity, he noted, could help reduce fuel imports, create thousands of rural and urban jobs, and advance the country’s shift towards a circular economy.

IBA President A.R. Shukla added that biogas is now moving from a rural niche technology to an integral component of India’s clean-energy transition.
The previous edition of REI registered investment commitments of Rs 1,850 crore, underlining sustained investor interest in the country’s renewable-energy landscape.

The three-day event will take place from 30 October to 1 November 2025 at the India Expo Centre in Greater Noida.
