RSWM Anchors Sustainability On Water & Clean Energy Gains

Report highlights full wastewater reuse, 33 per cent green energy use, and advances in recycling and biofuels

RSWM has placed water conservation and renewable energy at the core of its newly released Sustainability Report 2024-25, positioning the two as the strongest markers of its green journey.

The company reported conserving 22.3 lakh kilolitre of water during the year, achieving complete reuse of treated wastewater through its advanced Zero Liquid Discharge systems. On the energy front, it consumed 101.76 million kilowatt hours of solar and wind power, raising its dependence on green sources to 33 per cent ahead of India’s national clean energy share of 31 per cent.

Chairman and Managing Director Riju Jhunjhunwala described sustainability as both “responsibility and opportunity”, saying the company’s approach was to rethink waste as a resource and embed renewables across operations.

The report also recorded progress in other areas of circularity and resource management. RSWM recycled 43,250 metric tonne of Pet bottles, or nearly 6.5 million bottles daily, while integrating 38,270 MT of recycled polyester and 11,674 MT of organic cotton into yarn and fabric production. Its energy transition programme replaced 14,714 MT of coal with biofuels in boilers, with a target of moving entirely to biofuels by FY26.

Joint Managing Director Rajeev Gupta said the company’s efforts were rooted in the Panchtatva framework, inspired by the five natural elements, and aimed to balance profitability with sustainability.

RSWM also highlighted community outreach through CSR, reaching 2.44 lakh beneficiaries, and reaffirmed its global certifications including ISO, GRS and OEKO-TEX as proof of compliance with international benchmarks.
