SBI Donates School Bus To Sowa-Rigpa Institute In Leh

State Bank of India (SBI) has donated a school bus to the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa (NISR), Leh, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, furthering its support for community welfare in Ladakh.

The vehicle was formally handed over to Padma Gurmet, Director of NISR, by Krishan Sharma, Chief General Manager of SBI’s Chandigarh Circle, at a ceremony held in Leh. The event was attended by SBI officials including Jayant Mani, Deputy General Manager, Business & Operations, J&K Zone, and Anil Tondon, Chief Manager, SBI Leh Branch, along with faculty, staff, and students of the institute.

Expressing gratitude, Gurmet thanked SBI for the contribution and highlighted the role of NISR in preserving and promoting Sowa-Rigpa, the traditional system of medicine practiced in the Himalayan region. He also shared details of the institute’s ongoing initiatives in healthcare and public welfare.

Speaking at the event, Shri Sharma underlined SBI’s commitment to regional development and public service. “SBI remains dedicated to supporting community welfare initiatives across the country. Our partnership with institutions like NISR reflects our resolve to contribute meaningfully to society,” he said.

The donation is part of SBI’s wider CSR efforts in Ladakh aimed at strengthening socio-economic development. Through such initiatives, the bank has been engaging with local communities and institutions to promote education, healthcare, and inclusive growth.
