Seci, Global Energy Alliance Sign SoI To Accelerate India’s Energy Transition
Partnership to mobilise investment, strengthen grid integration and scale clean technologies as India pursues Net-zero target
The Solar Energy Corporation of India (Seci) and the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet have signed a Statement of Intent (SoI) to accelerate India’s energy transition, with a focus on mobilising finance, providing technical support and de-risking emerging clean energy technologies.
The collaboration comes at a time when India faces the twin challenge of meeting rapidly rising energy demand while reducing its dependence on fossil fuels. The partnership is aimed at supporting India’s long-term climate goals, including its Net-zero target by 2070, through large-scale deployment of renewable energy and enabling infrastructure.
A key area of focus will be grid stability and renewable energy integration. With solar and wind power inherently variable, the partnership will work on solutions such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), smart grids and advanced system planning to ensure reliable power supply as renewable capacity expands.
The collaboration will also support market innovation in renewable energy procurement. Seci has been at the forefront of developing new project models such as Round-the-Clock (RTC) power and Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE). These models are intended to provide continuous and dependable clean power, and the partnership is expected to help scale such configurations.
The SoI was signed by Prashant Soni, Deputy General Manager (Project Management), Seci, and Saurabh Kumar, Vice President, India, Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet, and exchanged by Akash Tripathi, Managing Director, SECI, under the guidance of Sivakumar V Vepakomma, Director (Power System), Seci.
Under the agreement, the two organisations will adopt a multi-pronged approach covering grid and strengthening India’s clean energy ecosystem.
