Senvion India Achieves 1 GW Installed Wind Turbine Capacity

Company expands local manufacturing and sets sights on further growth in India’s wind power sector

Senvion India crossed the 1 GW mark in installed wind turbine generators (WTGs) in India. The development coincides with the completion of 500 nacelles at its Baramati facility in Maharashtra and 500 sets of blades at its plants in Vadodara (Gujarat) and Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu).

The company continues to focus on local manufacturing as part of its strategy, with over 80 per cent of sub-component levels localised. Senvion India aims to further strengthen its manufacturing presence in India, contributing to the country’s renewable energy sector and supporting employment generation.

Amit Kansal, CEO and Managing Director, Senvion India, said that over 95 per cent of the 1 GW capacity is covered under the company’s maintenance program. He noted that the next 1 GW is already in various stages of commissioning, with plans to achieve this target within the next 12 months.

With its focus on innovation and localised manufacturing, Senvion India said that it is targeting a 15 per cent market share in grid-commissioned WTGs for the next financial year. The company is also aligned with India’s renewable energy goals, particularly the target of reaching 500 GW of renewable capacity by 2030.
